User-generated Data as a key enabler of Smarter Cities

Dr. Diego López-de-Ipiña took part in the panel “Visionaries and Enterpraneours” within the Workshop “Creating Value from the World of Data: Open & Linked & Big Data””,  27 March 2014, Tecnalia Research Corporation,  Zamudio, Bizkaia, SPAIN. 

The event gathered several specialist in the fields of Open, Linked, Social and Big Data. It was an opportunity to discuss the several challenges that all these disciplines as a group rather than individually, something lately termed as Broad Data, may have to overcome in the following years. Dr. López-de-Ipiña shared the views of MORElab on user-generated data and the need for considering the “V” from “Veracity” if we want to use citizens as active contributors of validated knowledge to enhance the management of Smart Cities.
