Aitor Gómez-Goiri participated in the 3rd International Conference on "Extending Seamlessly to the Internet of Things " (esIoT-2014) held in Birmingham (UK) from July 2nd to 4th, 2014.

He presented three MORElab member's articles:

"Reusing Web-Enabled Actuators from a Semantic Space-Based Perspective" by himself (click here to check the slides ).
"Codesign-Oriented Platform for Agile Internet of Things Prototype Development" mainly authored by Jonathan Ruiz-De-Garibay (check the slides here ).

"Team Up with Eco-Aware Everyday Things to Green Your Workplace! mainly authored by Diego Casado-Mansilla.

Aitor Gómez Goiri, the new doctor of MORElab

On June 16th, 2013, MORElab member Aitor Gómez Goiri has been honored with the PhD. grade. His thesis was entitled "Semantic Tuple Spaces for Constrained Devices: a Web-compliant Vision", and was supervised by Diego López-de-Ipiña and Iñigo Goiri. The jury panel was compounded by Antonio F. Gómez-Skarmeta (president), George Roussos and Mikel Larrea.

Open Data Hack Day - Bilbao 2014

On February 21, MORElab organised the third edition of the Open Data Day in Bilbao, at Deusto's University.

The event began with three welcoming talks:

The work done by Euskomedia Fundazioa towards opening and sharing Basque culture, by Iñaki Arrieta
Democracy empowered by open data and digestible data, by Braulio Gómez Fortes (Deusto Social Barometer)
Experience of Bilbao's City Council on Open Data, by Iñigo Robredo (CIMUBISA)

The hackathon started with the presentation of the initiatives described at our wiki, to join people on different working groups:

Visualization and publication as Linked Open Data of the Spanish Government's doctoral thesis dissertations database teseo.
Interactive maps showing historical events.
Linked Data tutorial based on Open Data Euskadi.
Basque chapter of DBpedia template mapping
Visualization and homogeneization of Deusto's Social Barometer data.

The results of the hackathon are reviewed in the event's webpage, and the code is available on GitHub.

We hope to repeat the great experience next year.

INNPACTO 2011

DeustoTech-INTERNET has obtained three new research grants under the INNPACTO 2011 research call promoted by the Spanish Ministry of Innovation and Science. The three projects funded are: ADAPTA. Adecuación, validación e integración de datos abiertos por gobiernos y empresas IPT-2011-0949-430000 (led by TREELOGIC), Migración Avanzada hacia el Cloud mCLOUD IPT-2011-1558-430000 (led by Informática Gesfor) and Social Awareness Based Emergency Situation Solver SABESS IPT-2011-1052-390000 (led by TREELOGIC).

The work "Identifying Security Issues in the Semantic Web: Injection attacks in the Semantic Query Languages" was presented at JSWEB2010, a workshop on Web Services and SOA held in conjunction with the CEDI 2010.
