David Ausin, the new MORElab's PhD

On October 30th, 2015, MORElab's member David Ausín has been honored with the PhD recognition. His dissertation, entitled "Razonador híbrido de contexto para entornos inteligentes" was advisored by Dr. Diego López de Ipiña and Dr. Federico Castanedo.

Meeting MoveSmart and Workshop organized in Deusto

The 5th Project Plenary Meeting of the MoveSmart project took place on 14^th October 2015 in the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Deusto, Ingenio room. The core of the discussions held was the preparation of the 2^nd year review meeting. From UDEUSTO side, Dr. Konstantinos Genikomsakis from DeustoTech-ENERGY andDavid Ausín and Dr. Diego López-de-Ipiña from DeustoTech-INTERNET participated. The meeting was followed by the RENEWABLE MOBILITY SERVICES IN SMART CITIES,http://apps.morelab.deusto.es/1st-movesmart-workshop/, held on 15^th October, at the Videoconferences room in the Faculty of Engineering. The purpose of this workshop was to present the main scientific results of MoveSmart project and those of projects related to MoveSmart.

MORElab members explain IoT and Wearables on TV

Diego Casado and David Ausin went to “Sin ir más lejos” to explain how intelligent objects and wearables can help us to improve our everyday life. They presented some IoT solutions developed by our research group (like the Social Coffee Maker , the Smart Vase and the Presenter) and also several products already available in the market.

Open Data Hack Day - Bilbao 2014

On February 21, MORElab organised the third edition of the Open Data Day in Bilbao, at Deusto's University.

The event began with three welcoming talks:

The work done by Euskomedia Fundazioa towards opening and sharing Basque culture, by Iñaki Arrieta
Democracy empowered by open data and digestible data, by Braulio Gómez Fortes (Deusto Social Barometer)
Experience of Bilbao's City Council on Open Data, by Iñigo Robredo (CIMUBISA)

The hackathon started with the presentation of the initiatives described at our wiki, to join people on different working groups:

Visualization and publication as Linked Open Data of the Spanish Government's doctoral thesis dissertations database teseo.
Interactive maps showing historical events.
Linked Data tutorial based on Open Data Euskadi.
Basque chapter of DBpedia template mapping
Visualization and homogeneization of Deusto's Social Barometer data.

The results of the hackathon are reviewed in the event's webpage, and the code is available on GitHub.

We hope to repeat the great experience next year.

David Ausín has participated in the IEEE-IS 12

The MORElab member David Ausín has assisted to the 6th IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Systems IS12 held in Sofia, Bulgary. He has presented the paper entitled "On the Measurement of Semantic Reasoners in Ambient Assisted Living Environments" where he has explored the best combination of semantics frameworks and reasoners for AAL.

Benchmarking results of semantic reasoners applied to an ambient assisted living environment at ICOST2012

David Ausín presented the paper entitled "Benchmarking results of semantic reasoners applied to an ambient assisted living environment" at ICOST 2012, 10th International Conference On Smart homes and health Telematics. In this work, the performance of several semantic reasoners combined with semantic frameworks in a simulated AAL scenario has been measured.
